QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess a high school equivalency and five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible dispatch experience, including managing or supervising staff; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong operational knowledge of police and fire dispatch procedures, familiarity with Incident Command Systems, and experience working within a structured public safety environment. The ability to supervise, mentor, and support staff in a professional and accountable manner is essential.

An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field is preferred.

Candidates must hold required State 911 and APCO certifications and maintain all necessary credentials applicable to public safety communications leadership.

This position performs skilled maintenance and repair work on all standard and specialized town equipment and vehicles.  This position also performs skilled manual work as well as operating heavy equipment for construction, maintenance, and repair projects for the DPW. Education, Training, and Experience

Equivalent to a High School Diploma; three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience as a mechanic at the journeyman level (with experience in the repair and maintenance of both light and heavy motorized equipment) or any equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Knowledge of:  Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, and techniques involved in the repair and maintenance of gasoline-powered and diesel-powered motor vehicles and equipment. Working knowledge of welding and cutting with a torch. Thorough knowledge of the repair of electrical and hydraulic systems. Thorough knowledge of safe repair practices. Working knowledge of heavy and special equipment operation and mechanics. Working knowledge of construction, maintenance, and repair activities. Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.

Ability to:  diagnose problems in and repair motor vehicles and equipment. Ability to use standard and special motor mechanic’s tools. Ability to perform welding and brazing operations. Ability to follow proper methods, procedures, and safety precautions.

Skill:  Skill in the use and care of tools employed in automotive repair. Skill in operating above mentioned equipment. Skill in utilizing basic office computer software and specialized fleet maintenance systems.

Town Beach Supervisor:

The Town Beach Supervisor is a seasonal summer position.
